What is a Rover? Rover, n. a male or female Homo sapien aged between 17 and 26 years old, dedicated to fun and adventure, whilst serving the community in the Scouting way. Rovers are the oldest Youth Section in the Scouting Movement. By taking part in the many opportunities available to you as a Rover you will experience fun, fellowship and personal growth. Rovers meet as a Crew and participate in a variety of activities. These activities offer you the opportunity to mix socially, push yourself physically, challenge yourself mentally and develop spiritually. Each Crew is different and chooses the activities that suit its members the most. Joining a Rover Crew could be one of the most important steps in your life. It can open doors to new friendships, fun, adventure and some unforgettable experiences while at the same time developing your leadership and organisational skills.
I want to join Rovers to become a Rover you need to join a Rover Crew which can be found all around the state. A crew is a collection of Rovers who meet on a regular basis (normally once a week) and participate in a range of activities with each other depending on the preferences of the crews members. There are also other activities where all Crews in a Region or even the state join together for a major event or camp which gives you the opportunity to meet other rovers from across the state. Rovers is a worldwide network and there are often opportunities to participate in activities that are interstate or even in another country giving you the opportunity to meet people from all the way around the world. Your first two Visits to a Rover Crew are free and you are not obliged to join.
